Seaglass Ring Workshop 7th June 2025
You will be part of a small group of up to 4 participants. By the end of the 4 hour workshop you will have your very own, hand made, unique sterling silver ring!
All materials, tools and tuition are included in the price - sterling silver, fine silver and seaglass.
If you would like to bring your own seaglass then you are very welcome to. Your seaglass needs to be no smaller than 0.8cm x 0.8cm and no bigger than 1.5cm x 1.5cm, with a maximum depth of 5mm and be evenly and well tumbled. It should sit flat on a table with no/little wobble, but if you're unsure, then bring it all along and we can have a look to find the right piece.
During the 4 hours, you will learn to design your own ring from scratch by choosing your seaglass piece. You will make the band and back plate for the bezel from silver wire and sheet; you’ll learn how to make the perfect size bezel for your glass and solder the back plate, bezel and band all together. Lastly you will file and polish your ring and set your seaglass. You'll be surprised how much you can learn in 4 hours.
You will need to have good dexterity and strength in your fingers and be able to see what you are doing so that you can solder using a blow torch safely. However if there are aspects of the process that you are unable to do that’s fine, I can help you and you can do the rest, just let me know in advance.
The minimum age for this workshop is 16 due to the use of extreme heat and chemicals and children need to be accompanied by a participating adult, please.
The workshop will take place at Found, 91a Preston Drove, Brighton BN1 6LD. You will be provided with drinks and nibbles on the day to keep you going!
Session start time is 9:30am.
We are in parking Zone J, so street parking is available but is pay and display using the pay by phone app.
Bookings are non-refundable, however, if you are unable to make a workshop for any reason after booking, I will always try to accommodate a change of date where possible. I intend to run workshops approximately monthly moving forward.
