Pendant - Codd Marble (Seaham)
Codd marbles are prized finds for seaglass hunters so this is an extra special pendant. The marble used to sit in the neck of a codd bottle as a way of storing carbonated drinks from 1872. Its likely that this marble came from the Londonderry bottle works in Seaham. The marble helped seal the drink with a washer. Over time this marble has been well tumbled in the sea and now has a new life as part of a pendant. It has been set in a beaded loop of sterling silver to mirror its shape and hung on a 18 inch belcher chain.
