Pendant - Pirate Amber (Seaham)
If you’ve not heard of pirate glass it’s amazing! I’ve only recently managed to find some as it looks (a lot) like pebbles on the beach. It involves good luck and a torch to find.
This piece came from Seaham, home of the old glass and bottle factory over 100 years ago which has led to some lovely rounded sea tumbled colours making their way into the beach.
Pirate glass is really just very very dark coloured glass, and has been given the name due to the dark coloured glass jars pirates used to drink from. A fabulous name whatever the truth!
This pendant is made with glass that looks an amber / yellow under torch light but black under bulb or sun light.
I’ve deliberately left the back open so the lucky buyer can shine a light through it.
the setting is made with sterling silver with a and it has a high shine finish to compliment the dark glass.
The pendant is hung on a 20 inch belcher chain.
